By trade, he repaired cars, however, by choice; he constructed small robots, or “junk bots”. He would take parts from his junkyard, and piece them together to form robots, capable of sweeping, or tightening bolts…menial tasks. A government agency, known as the CRCA, or the Center for robot control and activity caught wind of Gene’s junk bots. EXT. JUNKYARD - NIGHT
The junkyard is obviously well-used. Piles of scrap metal lie twelve feet high, and are strewn about in vast numbers. GENE steers a golf cart through the wreckage quite deftly. He pulls the cart into his garage.
INT. GARAGE - SAME
Gene hops off of the cart, holding a short length of scrap pipe. He whistles, as he picks through the garage to a small robot, minus an arm.
GENE Told you not to worry, little buddy. I got you a brand new arm.

Jonah sits on the sill of his window, staring out over the cityscape. He looks very contemplative. After a moment, he lights a clove cigarette. He turns to face the bedroom, in search of an ashtray. KAEFFA is sitting on the edge of Jonahs bed, also smoking a black clove cigarette. He offers Jonah a cheap copper ashtray, and pats the bed beside him. Jonah crosses the room and sits.
